Behaviour Policy for After School Clubs

At Happy Harmonies, we believe every child has the right to feel safe, included, and inspired through music. Our After School Music Club aims to be a fun, creative, and respectful environment where everyone can enjoy learning together.

Our Expectations

To make sure everyone has a great time, we ask all children to:

  • Be kind and respectful to others and to staff

  • Listen carefully and follow instructions

  • Take care of instruments and equipment

  • Try their best and join in positively

  • Use kind words and actions – no shouting, teasing, or hurting others

  • Keep hands and feet to themselves unless part of an activity

Positive Behaviour is Encouraged With:

  • Praise and encouragement

  • Stickers or small rewards

  • Opportunities to lead or demonstrate

  • Certificates or celebration mentions

If Behaviour Becomes Disruptive:

We follow a clear and fair approach:

  1. Reminder: The child is reminded of expectations

  2. Second Warning: A short time out or redirection from the activity

  3. Final Step: If behaviour continues, the child may be asked to sit out for a longer period and parents/carers will be informed

In rare cases of unsafe behaviour (e.g., physical aggression, consistent disruption), we may ask parents/carers to attend a meeting and discuss next steps. Continued issues could lead to a temporary or permanent exclusion from the club.

We Work With Children Supportively

We understand that children sometimes have off days. We always aim to work with empathy and understanding, offering support when needed and celebrating progress.

If you have any concerns or if your child has any additional needs we should be aware of, please speak to us – we’re here to help.

Thank you for helping us create a safe and joyful musical space for all!
